Wednesday Friday Mashup
It’s not Wednesday or Friday, but I have an FO/WIP mashup.
I’m busy working on swatches for the planned Shawl Geometry II. A bunch of the swatches are done, but there are still some more to go.
The current plan is to have Shawl Geometry II focus on subtracting from and dividing basic shapes to get new shapes, and then have a Shawl Geometry III that focuses on adding onto the basics. But that plan might change/get added to. Because Shawl Geometry II & III certainly weren’t in the original game plan.
Here’s the info about Shawl Geometry.
So instead of an FO tomorrow I think I’ll be talking about either why I knit, or the mess that comes from being a maker and trying to distinguish the “what I am” from the “what I do.”

Who doesn’t like an almost FO?
I’m always working on some project or another, and most weeks I talk about what I’m working on Wednesdays as part of Tami’s WIP Wednesday project. You can see past WIP Wednesdays … right this way.
I’m THIS close to being finished with by brown and green shawl knit out of Plucky Knitter yarn.
I’m thinking just a couple more rows before the bind off. YAY!
While the colors on this second photo are awful, you can see the garter/stockinette detailing better.
And because of the garter/stockinette patterning, I think the back is just as interesting as the front.
I’ve spent the past week editing away on the Shawl Geometry book. I’m super excited!

Mayur, meaning “peacock” in Sanskrit, was inspired by my desire to create a two color shawl with an ombre stripping sequence.
Sometimes simplicity is best and so to let the yarn shine, the only stitch patterns used are stockinette and a yo, k2tog mesh.
This makes it the perfect pattern for that special hand-painted yarn.

Shown in: Unplanned Peacock Studio, “Superwash Merino Fingering Weight”; 875 yards (800 meters)/skein, 1 skein each of “slate” & “robin’s egg”
Needles: US size 6 (4.00 mm) 40 inch (100 cm) circular or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: 1 stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 20 sts/4 inches; 30 rows/4 inches (20 sts/10 cm; 30 rows/10 cm) in washed and blocked stockinette
Blocked Dimensions: 21.5 inches (54.5 cm) in diameter point to point, blocked
