I’m knitting again!
I’m knitting!!!
Sure, it’s not a lot of knitting, but it’s something. And after weeks of no knitting – it feels amazing! I’m swatching for a new sweater, Versio, by Ankestrick Designs, in three lace weight yarns, Fiber Space’s ‘Scrumptious,’ Sweet Georgia’s ‘Merino Lace,’ and Julie Aselin’s ‘Merletto.’
Getting gauge is proving challenging (mostly because I’m holding two strands together, instead of just one) and I’m very close to saying “fuck it” and reworking the pattern to make it work with my gauge, but I have one more swatch on the needles that may give me the correct gauge. Fingers crossed.
I’ve also done some spinning. I pulled out the 100% alpaca that I started spinning 3 (!) weeks ago. Spinning a little here, and a little there. Mostly when I haven’t felt like futzing with getting gauge on my sweater.
The apartment is sloooooooowly coming back together, I’m hoping to get the sewing machine set up soon, so I can start sewing again for The Self-Made Wardrobe project.
Speaking of which,
I “officially” restarted the self-made wardrobe project on Friday! Whee!!
I’m excited, but mostly I’m trying not to be too concerned that August isn’t that far away from fall, and the weather turning cold (hence the sweater.)

I’m restarting & restructuring the self-made wardrobe project. Whee!
August 1st, I’m hitting the restart button on The Self-Made Wardrobe. Unpausing the project.
Picking up the idea again.
The Self-Made Wardrobe project is a project where I only wear garments made by me, for an entire year.
I originally started it June 1st, but put it on pause because of health stuff, and bedbugs. Turns out that it’s really hard to make clothes while all your fabric is sealed away in plastic bags (bedbugs) and you’re lying on the couch feeling like complete crap (health stuff.) The health stuff is now sorted out, and the bedbug stuff is wrapping up over the next day or two (fingers crossed).
So! I’m restarting the Self-Made Wardrobe project August 1st!
(the day after my birthday…)
But this time with a bit of restructuring.
I’m trying to make it more sustainable.
More interesting.
More helpful.
More inspiring.
With more fun, less stress. (yes please!)
So, I’ll be moving the self-made wardrobe project to this blog (instead of trying to maintain this blog, and a blog for the self-made wardrobe project.)
I’ll be doing a once a week outfit roundups, and there will probably be some more sewing in Wednesday’s “what I’m working on” posts.
But this will be in addition to the knitting projects and content, because I’m certainly not going to stop knitting anytime soon.
I’ll be adding some sewing & styling posts in with the knitting posts, but the lace and the shawls aren’t going anywhere. I just wanted to give ya’ll heads up.

Unpausing.
Rearranging.
Restarting.
Let’s do this.
a week of laundry and chaos
Not a whole lot of knitting this week. Mostly it’s been more laundry and more packing. My living room is a nightmare, but the exterminator came yesterday and treated the apartment, so I can at least start unpacking things soon.
It’s amazing how much stuff you can fit into an apartment.
But I did get a little bit done.
And bonus points for matching the dress I’m wearing.
Because the apartment is a mess, and my desk is in the living room (the very center of the chaos) I’ve been working in cafes and parks whenever I get the chance.
A little bit of Monday morning writing.
(I’m hoping to restart the Self-Made Wardrobe project again – soon!)
And some late night pattern writing.
Here’s to hoping for more knitting time very soon.
