checking off steps and meditative stitching

Each Wednesday, I post a snapshot of the projects I’m working on, and where my brain is at.

Focused on making steady progress on two giant projects this week.

One being a huge embroidery project that I started years ago. And the other being the Shawl Geometry Books Update.

Working on the embroidery project is rhythmic and meditative. There was a beginning, now is a looooooong middle, and at some point there will be an end. But there are never steps to check off (though I could make some if I wanted to) – there is merely one stitch at a time.

On the other hand, the updating Shawl Geometry Books has been a project full of steps and mini projects. This week: finish knitting the final swatches for the third book – done! And then weave in all the ends – done!

Next? Blocking. And editing graphics.

And also, stitching one stitch at a time.

loosing (and winning) yarn chicken

Each Wednesday, I post a snapshot of the projects I’m working on, and where my brain is at.

winning yarn chicken

What is yarn chicken? Yarn chicken is trying to out knit the yarn you have on hand. It’s entirely possible – until it’s not.

I’m knitting the (I hope) final swatch for the Shawl Geometry Books, but ran out of yarn three rounds plus a bind off from the end.

For most of this week I thought I was going to have to pick up another whole skein, but kept avoiding it.

And then I remembered a teeny tiny ball of yarn, that (I’m crossing my fingers) will last for the remainder of the swatch.
