Craving More Sweaters – The Self-Made Wardrobe Week 18
The Self-Made Wardrobe is a project where I only wear garments I’ve made.
It’s sort of a year long experiment in getting dressed without clothing labels.
DAY 120 – NOVEMBER 28th
Deconstructed Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Khaki Scarf
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Black Heels
Bead Crochet Bracelet
Various Rings
This lighting is what happens when I take photos before the sun rises…
DAY 121 – NOVEMBER 29th
Deconstructed Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Grey Tights
Black Heels
Long Chain Necklace
Bead Crochet Bracelet
Various Rings
…or after the sun sets. I was visiting family for the night, and had to take photos in artificial light, so apologies for the terrible lighting.
DAY 122 – NOVEMBER 30th
Transitional Weather Sweater
(also doubles as a perfect Curling Up On The Couch On A Cold Day Sweater)
Basic Black Tank Top
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Bead Crochet Bracelet
Various Rings
I knit this sweater with the idea of wearing it mostly during the fall & spring, when the weather is doing it’s transitional-thing, but it turns out it’s also a perfect hanging out at home during the winter sweater.
DAY 123 – DECEMBER 1st
Blue Kimono
Basic Black Tank Top
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Sneakers
Bicycle Clock Necklace
Bead Crochet Bracelet
Various Rings
Another week with a 60 degree day. What else do you wear under an alpaca coat when it’s 60 degrees out.
DAY 124 – DECEMBER 2nd
Moonstruck Cardigan
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Brown Boots
Various Rings
Every time I wear this skirt I remember how much I love maxi skirts, and how much I want to make more maxi skirts. I have a couple project ideas brewing, I just haven’t had time to start working on them yet.
DAY 125 – DECEMBER 3rd
Deconstructed Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Pirate Skirt
Various Rings
I’m wearing this sweater more and more, and it’s making me realize how much I need one or two more thick & cozy sweaters. So I think I’m going to look for some sweater knits that I can sew into super cozy sweaters – and of course, finish knitting the sweaters I have on my needles.
DAY 126 – DECEMBER 4th
Versio Sweater
Khaki Scarf
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Black Tights
Black Flats
Various Rings
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this sweater, under a scarf, under my winter coat. I thought all those layers would cover up the colorwork – which is what makes the sweater special – but it turns out that even underneath all those layers a smidge of color still manages to pop out, and looks really vibrant against the black of the skirt, the khaki of the scarf and the charcoal of my winter coat.
The Self-Made Wardrobe Week 17
The Self-Made Wardrobe is a project where I only wear garments I’ve made.
It’s sort of a year long experiment in getting dressed without clothing labels.
DAY 113 – NOVEMBER 21th
Moonstruck Cardigan
Woven Scarf
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Grey Tights
Brown Boots
Various Rings
It was one of those crazy bright, freezing cold sort of days. Note to self: your really really need to get the rest of your winter boots resoled. Like yesterday…
DAY 114 – NOVEMBER 22nd
Deconstructed Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Brown Boots
when u was making this sweater I didn’t think I would absolutely love it quite as much as I do. But then again what’s not to love about a huge cozy black sweater? And the fact that it works with absolutely every skirt I own, just makes it that much better.
DAY 115 – NOVEMBER 23rd
Versio Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Khaki Scarf
Gingham Skirt
Sneakers
Various Rings
All of the colors! Because why the heck not.
DAY 116 – NOVEMBER 24th
Blue Kimono
Basic Black Tank Top
Khaki Scarf
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Black Flats
Various Rings
But seriously, what else can you wear under a 100% alpaca coat when it’s 60 degrees at the end of November. (In fact I ended up taking off the kimono, and was still too warm.)
DAY 117 – NOVEMBER 25th
Blue Kimono
Basic Black Tank Top
Pirate Skirt
Bicycle Clock Necklace
Various Rings
It wasn’t 60 degrees, like it was on day 117, but it was still warm enough not to need a sweater.
DAY 118 – NOVEMBER 26th
Boring Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Victorian Lady Necklace
Various Rings
Some days require more multi-tasking than others.
DAY 119 – NOVEMBER 27th
Boring Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Woven Scarf
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Black Tights
Black Flats
And it’s proper November weather again! Hope you had a fantastic thanksgiving, if your in the US, and an all around great Thursday, if you’re not!
Hibernating all winter seems like an appealing option – The Self-Made Wardrobe Week 16
The Self-Made Wardrobe is a project where I only wear garments I’ve made.
It’s sort of a year long experiment in getting dressed without clothing labels.
DAY 106 – NOVEMBER 14th
Winter Coat
Moonstruck Cardigan
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Grey Tights
Black Flats
Princess Necklace
Various Rings
I love how the collar of the sweater looks pulled out over the outside of the coat, and it’s making me want to create a whole bunch of collars and cowls so I can have some variety this winter. (We’ll see if I ever get around to it.)
DAY 107 – NOVEMBER 15th
Deconstructed Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Nude Heels
Various Rings
I really love how giant and cozy this sweater is, and I have a feeling I’ll be wearing it a lot this winter.
I did wear my coat over all of this, but I figure from now on I’ll just show you what was underneath, and do a post all about the finished coat – when it’s finally finished…
DAY 108 – NOVEMBER 16th
Boring Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Grey Tights
Black Flats
My boring black sweater really is the perfect layer underneath my winter coat especially for those weird days that are kind of between freezing-cold, and not-quite-as-freezing-cold. Although most of the days have been of the freezing-cold-and-windy variety, so hibernating all winter seems like an appealing option.
DAY 109 – NOVEMBER 17th
Blue Kimono
Basic Black Tank
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Various Rings
I spent the day hiding from the cold, and not leaving the apartment, so I pulled my lovely blue kimono back out – the one I basically lived in all summer.
DAY 110 – NOVEMBER 18th
Deconstructed Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Brown Boots
Bicycle Necklace
Various Rings
I love how easy this outfit looks, and how easy it is to actually wear.
A cozy sweater + a skirt I absolutely adore = yes please!
DAY 111 – NOVEMBER 19th
Moonstruck Cardigan
Colorful Knit Sweater Dress
White Underskirt
Grey Tights
Brown Boots
Various Rings
It was cold enough on Day 111, that I wanted another layer under the sweater, so I wore my super colorful sweater dress, and doubled up on the tights.
DAY 112 – NOVEMBER 20th
Deconstructed Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Black Heels
Pocket Watch Necklace
Various Rings
The problem with easy outfits is that they quickly become all I want to wear. This is not the first time I’m repeating an outfit, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
PS. I’m fighting off some sort of winter-cold-thing, and my head is all fuzzy, so I’m sorry if this post feels a touch disjointed.
